Frequently asked questions
In the UK podiatry is simply the new name for chiropody. The name was changed to podiatry in 1993 as it's the international recognised name for a foot specialist.
Podiatrists treat a vast array of foot and lower limb problems. Along with the most obvious treatments for corns and hard skin, specialities exist within the profession for almost any lower limb problem.
Most Podiatrists hold a degree level qualification: BSc (hons) in Podiatry.
In this practice, Richard Depledge holds a first class honours in Podiatry, (Huddersfield) 2012.
All Podiatrists and Chiropodists must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and registration can be checked on the HCPC website.
Richard is also a member of The College of Podiatry.
We provide an appointment only service.
Please phone the clinic directly on 01274 532953. If we are unavailable please leave a message which we will return as soon as possible. Many of our regular clients prefer to book in advance after each treatment session. We hope to provide online booking in the future.
We offer home visits within the BD17 postcode area. This service is provided for clients who are physically unable to attend the clinic.
We currently offer these appointments on Mondays and Wednesday afternoons, and have limited availability. It is our experience that home visits often require more planning than simply booking an appointment. For example gaining access to your property, care homes and people who may wish to make payment on behalf of relatives. We will be happy to discuss these in advance.
We accept credit and debit cards (excluding American Express) and can take payment in clinic and for home visits. We accept cash and also cheques from regular clients. Payment can also be made via bank transfer if paying on behalf of a relative. We can provide receipts suitable for healthcare savings schemes such as Sovereign and Simply Health.
